I’m a huge essential oil fan. I love how essential oils can help balance me, even during stressful times! Sometimes, I have difficulty relaxing and falling asleep at night, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite essential oils to help relax and fall asleep, even when I’m going though those midlife hormonal swings. If you experience them you’ll definitely know what I’m talking about! Some links in this post may be sponsored.
Are you struggling with finding a good night’s sleep? If so, essential oils may be able to help you relax in the evenings and fall into a more peaceful slumber. Using essential oils is an excellent chemical free alternative when looking for a more solid sleep and relaxation, so here are a handful of oils to get you started. I love to add any one or two of these into my Oil Diffuser in the evenings and let their scents permeate the house. These 7 essential oils for sleep can help you drift off peacefully and awake feeling refreshed. Give them a try!
1. Roman Chamomile
Roman Chamomile is a sweet and soothing scent and can help you feel relaxed and calm in no time. Diffuse it or apply it to pulse points to enjoy a more peaceful night’s sleep. You can even add a drop of it to your evening tea.
2. Lavender
Who doesn’t love the scent of Lavender Oil? It can help you relax, unwind, release anxiety, and can even help soothe minor aches and pains. Apply it to your temples and relax. A great night’s sleep is well on the way! Children especially can benefit from lavender oil.
3. Orange
Citrus is typically used to revitalize and perk up your spirits, but Orange Oil can be useful if your lack of sleep is a result of depression or anxiety. Add a few drops in your palms and inhale about 60 minutes prior to bedtime so you can feel more positive and help wash worry away.
4. Cedarwood
Cedarwood Essential Oil has a rich scent perfect for making you feel cozy and warm! Diffuse cedarwood oil or in hale prior to sleep in order to feel more at peace and relaxed.
5. Marjoram
Marjoram Oil may not be your first choice when it comes to a great night’s sleep, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. If you are a fan of the scent, it can be perfect for helping you feel calm and more relaxed. It is ideal for diffusing.
6. Ylang Ylang
Many people turn to Ylang Ylang Oil to help lift their spirits, beat headaches, and squash anxiety. If you are feeling sore or restless before bed, ylang ylang is great for soothing your body and your senses. Diffuse, inhale, or apply to your pulse points.
7. Bergamot
Is there anything Bergamot Oil can’t do? If you love the scent of bergamot, use it to help ease the anxiety and stress that may be keeping you from a peaceful slumber. Like the other oils mentioned in this post, it is great for inhaling, diffusing, or massage a little onto pulse points.
